What Does Golf in Los Cabos Have to Do with Russ Limbaugh?

A week or so ago I had the privilege of spending some time in the Los
Cabos area of Baja California. One thing I really enjoy about the beach at this time of the year is that the water is so beautiful and
warm–both in the ocean and the pools!

I know, I am a wimp, but I like my dunking water warm!

And you are probably wondering what the heck that has to do with golf and Russ Limbaugh.

Well, the other thing that is hot in this area of Mexico is the golf courses.

We stayed in a great resort not far from one of the most stunning and memorable golf courses crafted by Jack Nicklaus–the Eldorado Golf and Beach Club.

I found out that not only is it a splendid place to play a round of
golf, but it has the  notoriety of being featured in the last episode of  ‘Hank Haney–The Rush Limbaugh Project’.

Hank Haney, who is a well know golf teacher on the PGA tour, completed Rush Limbaugh’s long journey to a better swing and more golf success with a final round on this gorgeous golf course in Baja California.

After discovering this, it peaked my interest and so I did a bit more
research on Russ Limbaugh.

Did you know that Russ Limbaugh has a connection to Kansas City?

According to Wikipedia, in the 70’s Limbaugh took jobs at several radio stations, working in music radio, before settling in Kansas City.  In 1979, he left radio and accepted a position as director of promotions with the Kansas City Royals baseball team. There he developed a close friendship with now retired Kansas City Royals star George Brett.

The two remain close friends and George Brett was there by his side
when he played this round of golf at the Eldorado Golf Course.

Now…I am wondering if Russ Limbaugh, with his new swing, would like to return to his old haunt and try out some Kansas City Tee Times.  I am sure he and his buddy George Brett would have a great time on some of the superb Golf courses in Kansas City.

You know, golf offers us chances to do and see things all over the
world. It is a sport that most anyone can participate in and it opens doors that you would not believe.

If I hadn’t been interested in the golf courses where I was
vacationing, I would probably never have learned all these interesting and entertaining snippets of information.

So, now we know what golf in Los Cabos has to do with Russ Limbaugh.

Here is to the beauty offered by the sport of golf!

San Jose Del Cabo Vacation

Had the pleasure of spending 10 vacation days on the Baja in the San Jose del Cabo area. It was a combined birthday present and having to use a week of timeshare we had.

We lucked out getting a really inexpensive air fare from Guadalajara on Viveaerobus directly to the Los Cabos airport which is just north of San Jose Del Cabo.

We have been to Cabo San Lucas a couple of times, but this is the first time we visited the town of San Jose del Cabo.

The week that we were not at the resort, we stayed in a little place just off the Plaza downtown in the historic district. They have a beautiful square. Unfortunately a few things were closed as September is the off season.

But, we found a great place to have inexpensive beers (Shooters), take a break from the beach, and Joe caught up on some of his sports.

We had a great time even though we found the area a bit expensive compared to inland where we come from. Of course, we understand that all that sun, fun, and little piece of heaven has it’s price. And I think it is well worth it–can’t take the damn stuff with you when you go anyway–Verdad!(Right!)

We met some great people, drank lots of beer, relaxed, and enjoyed the wonderful pool and beach at the Hilton Resort.

I know, tough life, but someone has to do it, might as well be us.

Wishing you all a wonderful life!

I Broke 80

HAPPY SUNDAY TO ALL!
It is a beautiful day here in Chapala, Mexico. The sun is shining and the sky is a beautiful clear blue.

Golf is one of my first loves and so wanted to share with you a fantastic thing that happened to me last week.

In the past I have had the fortune of experiencing a hole in one and breaking 80 several times. For those of you who are golfers, I am sure you understand what a feat this is.

Well, last Thursday on the golf course, I could do not wrong. And when I did hit an ugly shot, it seemed to work out for me.

I must have had the big golf angel looking down on me.
Drum roll………………
I shot 74!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That is only 2 over par! I had 5 bogeys, 3 birdies, and the rest pars.

Never in my life has this happened to me and so I am compelled to brag and share it with you.

Thanks for listening to my rant and my bragging.

Wishing you all the best, always,

Hugs, Penny

HOLE IN ONE!

One October 30, 2009 I had a fantastic thing happen to me. I did not break 80, but…
Golfer_lady I HAD A HOLE IN ONE!

I could not believe my eyes.
I had hit the ball really, really high and so I was watching and watching, hoping that it would make it over the water and the sand trap and on to the green.

Well, that sweet little golf ball hit the front of the green and then followed the break right into the center of the hole.

I have to say it was maravilloso!
It was one of the most awesome experiences I have had.

I was playing golf on this glorious day with my husband, Joe, my friend, Debbie, and our regular caddie, Salvador.
I had 42 on the front nine, but was only one over on the back when we arrived at the par 3 fourteenth. I have to say, I had breaking 80 on my mind.

Then this fabulous thing happened to me. I am sorry to say that I bogeyed in and did not break 80. But…I guess I can handle that after a glorious hole in one.

I want to wish all of you golfers out there a fabulous time on the golf course. And if you have not had the pleasure of experiencing a hole in one, I am wishing you all the luck in the world.

If you have had the privilege, congratulations to you! You really know how it feels.

Having the experience of breaking 80!
Having the experience of a hole in one!
I am one lucky girl.

Wishing you less strokes on the golf course, a hole in one, and most of all, happiness in whatever you try to accomplish.

Atlas Golf and Country Club

Atlas Golf and Country Club in Guadalajara is one of the golf courses available in this area. Since we arrived to this Chapala/Guadalajara area, over 10 years ago, there have been several new courses added and we will discuss them at a later date.

Atlas is the course that we chose to join. One of the major reasons was that it was an 18 hole course, while the ones closer to Chapala and Ajijic are only nine hole courses.

Atlas Golf Club is a beautiful old course with many mature trees. For me it is truly a tranquil and gorgeous place. Different trees and plants are blooming all year round, making the scenery an ever changing colorful story.

Below are a few photos I would like to share with you so you too can view the beauty of it all.

Check back for more photos of this fantastic scenic golf course, where we have a climate that gives us a chance to golf nearly 365 days a year.

Until later, (Hasta Luego),
Here is wishing you lower scores and fun days on the golf course.
